Dun Eystein (pronounced "Dun Esh'-ten") is named for the Morrison stronghold on the Isle of Lewis, Scotland. This lovely summer home is on the shore of beautiful St. Ann's Harbour. The cottage has spectacular views of the harbour including Kelly's Mountain, the Gaelic College Point & Englishtown. Centrally located on the famous Cabot Trail, Baddeck is 15 minutes, Ingonish is 45 minutes & the Gaelic College is 5 minutes away. The city of Sydney and the historic fort at Louisbourg are only short trips as well. The large one story home has a warm comfortable atmosphere and includes a variety of antiques and art work. The living room, kitchen & formal dining room have an open concept floor plan allowing views through the large casement windows overlooking the harbour.
The master bedroom offers a private view of the harbour. It contains a queen size bed & walk-through closet as well as a full master bath. The guest bedroom has a double bed, large closet and adjacent bathroom with shower. The back entrance (from the driveway) includes a porch with patio table & 4 chairs as well as propane BBQ. The front entrance overlooking the water includes a large veranda with a pair each of Adirondack & Tennessee rocking chairs. The lilt of bagpipes can sometimes be heard on the evening breeze coming across the water from the Gaelic College nearby. The village of Baddeck offers a host of specialty shops and eateries as well as boating in Baddeck Bay or golfing at Bell Bay golf course. A 45 minute drive north takes you over Smokey Mountain to the village of Ingonish where you can enjoy beautiful ocean beaches and world renowned Highland Links golf course. The city of Sydney and the historic fort at Louisbourg are 1 to 1 1/2 hours drive east.
